This taster course invites students without prior knowledge of French to discover some aspects of the French culture along with some basic elements of the French language. The course is supported by audio-visual materials, short texts, different interactive tasks and online quizzes. It aims to help students get familiar with practical and cultural aspects of daily life in a French-speaking environment. It serves as a taster for students who might consider taking French 3 to 6-unit courses in French programme of CUHK in the future. Upon completion of the course, students are expected to be able to: - Identify and understand some basic cultural representative elements of France. - Understand some basic features of the French language. - Interact in selected simple everyday situations, e.g., greetings, ordering food in a restaurant, expressing food preferences, etc. - Implement independent learning as part of their learning experience.
