Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is one of the most common neurodiverse conditions in society. This course will introduce different theoretical frameworks to understand ASD and analyze issues concerning this community. This course will present the characteristics of autistic individuals and the challenges they may have in learning and communicating with others. It will also discuss practices that can support and interact with autistic individuals in academic, workplace, and social settings. This course aims at developing heightened awareness and sensitivity towards neurodivergent learners, and encouraging students to effectively interact with peers with ASD in and outside campus.
